Designing with Intention: Choosing Fabrics for Longevity
In seasonless design, fabric choice is more than just a matter of aesthetics—it defines how a garment functions, feels, and endures over time. Wayla’s approach prioritizes natural, high-quality, eco-friendly fabrics that offer both longevity and versatility, ensuring pieces remain comfortable, breathable, and adaptable across seasons and settings.
EUROPEAN FLAX® Linen
At the heart of Wayla’s material selection is linen, a fabric that embodies effortless, seasonless wear. We work with OEKO-TEX® certified linen made from certified EUROPEAN FLAX® fiber. This linen is cultivated without the use of irrigation, GMOs, or synthetic chemicals, ensuring a low environmental impact. It’s naturally breathable and lightweight, ideal for warm climates, but also layers comfortably in cooler temperatures. Its subtle texture and soft drape align with our design philosophy of creating pieces that are both functional and timeless.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™
Alongside woven European linen, we use knitted eco-rib made with LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers—a responsible viscose alternative derived from certified renewable wood sources. These fibers are certified biodegradable and compostable, and are traceable through advanced identification technology, supporting transparency from source to garment.
Produced with at least 50% less carbon emissions and water consumption compared to conventional viscose*, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ offers natural softness, breathability, and a gentle drape—ideal for layering or wearing solo in a seasonless wardrobe. It’s a responsible choice that feels as good on the body as it is for the planet. *Certified according to EU Ecolabel standards; environmental data based on ISO 14040/44 and Higg MSI 3.7
Zero-waste Knitwear
Wayla also embraces zero-waste knitwear, crafted from hand-loomed natural cotton. Unlike most contemporary knits, which contain synthetic blends that shed microplastics into the environment, our knitwear is entirely biodegradable and free from harmful synthetics. Each piece is meticulously shaped on the loom, eliminating material waste while ensuring durability and timeless appeal.
